Transcription
The funeral of the late Mr. John Yates took place yesterday, moving from his late residence, Lazarus street, Long Gully. A large number of friends joined the cortege. Deceased's remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the Bendigo Cemetery. The pall-bearers were Messrs. J. Lethlean, J. Rowe, J. Ermel, and W.H. Harrison. The Rev. F.A.W. Kilbey gave an address at the house prior to the funeral, and also read the burial service. The hymn 'There's a Land that is Fairer Than Day' was sung at the graveside. A beautiful domed immortelle was sent by the employees of the Ironbark Gold Mining Company.

YATES.—In loving memory of my dear husband and loving father, John Yates, who died April 2nd, 1913, aged 48 years. ’Twas hard not to have been there in the hour of death, To have caught the last sigh of his parting breath; One last fond whisper we might have heard And breathed in his ear one parting word. —Inserted by his widow and children.
